DALMORE 40 YEAR OLD.
A partnership between Richard Paterson, master distiller and Dalmore distillery for nearly 50 years has produced a luxurious single malt, a malt that has established its own global brand. The Dalmore Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey will add to their portfolio of rare and long-lasting whiskeys especially with the 40-year-old The Dalmore, which prompted Richard Paterson to say: “It has been a great privilege to release two of our greatest ever aged expressions – first the Champagne-finished 50-year-old and now this exceptional 40”.
- Sparkling amber liquid with rich flavor.
“When you bring it all together, it creates something very special indeed.” Richard Paterson’s judgment once again confirms the specialness of the 40-year Dalmore.
Carefully crafted and crafted, this edition further emphasizes the distillery’s reputation for brewing its whiskey. This 40 year old Highland single malt began its life at The Dalmore distillery in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to 30 year old Gonzalez Byass Matusalem oloroso sherry butts. After seven years in these rare casks, the liquid was given its final flourish in first-fill American white oak bourbon casks prior to bottling in 2017.
Rich Colombian coffee mingles with sweet sultanas, dates and marmalade on the nose. The palate reveals gingerbread, molasses, maple syrup and brioche dipped in Manuka honey. The finish has delicious blood orange, over ripe Bramley apples, liquorice and notes of desiccated coconut.
- Limited production.
Master distiller Paterson said: “Consumers are becoming more discerning, more demanding, and with that demand we have had to start looking at different styles of whisky. It takes time, effort and vision to create an expression as complex as The Dalmore 40 years old, moving rare stocks of whisky between casks to build layer upon layer of character.”
Bottled at 42% abv, volume of 700ml, only 750 bottles of The Dalmore 40 were released, available from specialist retailers globally.
Presented in a decanter designed by artisans at renowned French crystal house Baccarat, the hand-blown decanters are adorned with The Dalmore’s iconic 12 point Royal Stag emblem created by Hamilton & Inches, initially granted as Royal Warrant Holders over 120 years ago.
