BOWMORE 1964 31 YEAR OLD
One of the most expensive and sought-after whiskeys on the market is the legendary 1964 Black Bowmore.
- Unique limited edition
The third of the three extraordinary Oloroso cask 1964 Bowmores released in the mid-1990s, this final batch was of 1812 bottles. Each bottle is bottled at a concentration of 49.0% ABV, with a volume of 700ml. The bottles were numbered and signed by the then distillery director, James McColl.
Black Bowmore is not only a whiskey, but also a true representation of the turning point of single malt. Appeared at the height of popularity of sherry whiskey, then first made a buzz and replaced the cognac as an after-dinner drink or chosen at the banquet table. Consumers are willing to pay nearly hundreds of pounds for a regular Bowmore bottle.
- This whisky deserves the frequently overused ‘legendary’ tag
With an almost unfathomable concentration and intensity of flavour, and with the perfect balance of fruit, peat and power, this whisky deserves the frequently overused ‘legendary’ tag and has assumed almost mythic status amongst whisky collectors and aficionados. While the First Edition Black Bowmore is generally agreed to be slightly more magnificent than the 2nd or 3rd, it is really a case of ‘first among equals’. Certainly the differences between Second and Third are differences only of emphasis and nuances of flavour, and are really only noticeable when they are tasted side by side (which few of us mere mortals will ever manage).
