BOWMORE 1964 42 YEAR OLD
Over many years of distillation, the Bowmore distillery has produced a number of iconic limited edition bottles. The 42-year Back Bowmore 1964 version distilled on 5th November 1964 was considered a special edition. The 1964 spirit was carefully filled into barrels of sherry Oloroso then matured in a distillation cellar below sea level.
- Limited production
The Bowmore distillery underwent an extensive upgrade in late 1963 and this bottling comes from the first distillation following the conversion. This expression is the first in the Trilogy series and was bottled 12 years after the ‘Final Edition’ of Black Bowmore was released in 1995. The Trilogy is completed with a 43 Year Old White Bowmore released in 2008, and a 44 Year Old Gold Bowmore released in 2009.
This is arguably the most famous version of Bowmore, one of the most memorable and collectible whiskeys on the market. Black Bowmore is a leading symbol of whiskey collection, enjoyment and investment. The Back Bowmore was distilled on November 5, 1964 and for the first time this famous classic by Bowmore was officially released, launched in 2007 at the age of 42 in a luxurious and sophisticated wooden box. This 42-year-old version is limited to 827 bottles worldwide, each bottled at a concentration of 40.5% ABV with a volume of 700ml.
- Complex flavor
After more than four decades of maturity in hand-selected oak barrels, the Bowmore spirit has been infused with great aroma and deliciousness. What people impresses the most is how the whisky evolves. On the nose and palate, this is a thick, viscous, whisky, with notes of sticky toffee, earthy oak, fig cake, roasted nuts, fallen fruit, pancake batter, black cherry, ripe peach, dark chocolate covered espresso bean, polished leather, tobacco, a hint of wild game and lingering, leafy damp kiln smoke. Flavors continue on the palate long after swallowing. This is what we all hope for (and dream of) in an older whisky!
