KARUIZAWA 1960 (52 YEARS)
- Speak out the Japanese national motto version:
From the Meiji period, when Western knowledge and technology introduced to Japan on a large scale arose in this country’s social culture, a concept called ‘Wakon Yousai’ – ‘Peace of Soul’. This concept is interpreted as a fusion of Western knowledge and education that applies to traditional Japanese culture and circumstances.
‘Wakon Yosai’ is like a national motto that is applied not only to politics but also very widely used both in trade and production. That spirit has contributed to bringing Japan to become a great power in many fields. And surely the Japanese have also successfully applied ‘Wakon Yosai’ to the production of whiskey, making their wine not only one of the best in the world, but also particularly suitable with Japanese tastes. And the rest of the World also seems to admire this flavor.
- The version accompanies the ups and downs of history.
The whiskey boom of the 1970s and 1980s, together with the economic miracle of Japan, the demand for drinks increased sharply and whiskey became a fashionable drink. In the early 1980s, the annual consumption of whiskey in Japan was about 3 liters / person. Imported whiskey sales increased sharply, domestic whiskey also became more popular. Many sake kilns have even been converted to whiskey distillery to meet market demand.
Unfortunately, most of them exist only for a short time because the market is not always convenient and ready to receive all the whiskeys. For more than ten years from 1991-2004, 20 distilleries were closed due to financial difficulties. These include homes that have become extremely expensive today like Karuizawa, and many valuable bottles of whisky are still retained from these distilleries, all of them make a history of Japanese whiskey.
Karuizawa 1960 was distilled in a small Japanese factory from 1960s that spent 52 years of maturity then was bottled in 2012 in the only sherry cask #5627, a wooden box made of Spanish oak. Each bottle is at a concentration of 58.3%, with a volume of 700ml.
- Strict in preserving meticulously crafted details
And it seems paradoxical that while production is not enough to sell, it is necessary to try to increase production but the Japanese still strictly maintain an extremely stable quality and preserve meticulous details even on hand. Bottles or product labels. Enough to see how deeply Japanese personality permeated the way they perfected each whiskey.
- Limited version.
