Gordon & MacPhail has just unveiled a rare single malt Glenlivet 64 years, which was bottled in 2018 in its Private Collection. This whisky has been aged for over six decades in a single refill sherry cask after being distilled in 1954.
Glenlivet 1954 offers the sweet and spicy, with aromas of brown sugar, toffee apples, cinnamon and aniseed. Sharp citrus and vanilla aromas develop slowly and culminate in thick, rich fruit jam. The palate is incredibly smooth, notes of golden syrup and stewed fruits instantly appear, swiftly followed by dark chocolate and raisins. Notes of peppercorn, walnut and mature oak build and linger in the finish, making this a refined and complex dram.
This whisky comes in a specially-designed decanter and wooden presentation box, giving a stylish, modern edge to this elegant old spirit
Glenlivet 1954 was bottled at 41% abv, with only 222 bottles worldwide.
