BOWMORE 1964 44 YEAR OLD
Founded more than two centuries ago in 1779, the Bowmore is the first to record on Islay and one of the oldest in all of Scotland. Bowmore 1964 has 44 years of quiet maturation in the famous number one vaults, has allowed an exceptional and rare example of Bowmore single malt to develop – the oldest one ever to be released from the distillery.
- Limited production version
The Bowmore distillery underwent an extensive upgrade in late 1963 and this bottling comes from the first distillation following the conversion. This expression is the last in the Trilogy series and was bottled 14 years after the ‘Final Edition’ of Black Bowmore was released in 1995. The Trilogy is completed with a 42 Year Old Black Bowmore released in 2007, and a 43 Year Old White Bowmore released in 2008.
Gold Bowmore 44 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is, the last release in the Trilogy series. This was distilled on 5 November 1964, matured in three bourbon casks and one oloroso sherry cask and bottled in 2009. Only 701 Bowmore Gold bottles were released globally, each bottle bottled at a concentration of 42.4% ABV, with a volume of 700ml.
- Made in a handcrafted spirit with its own flavor
Gold Bowmore is the third and final limited edition to be released in Bowmore’s special trilogy. Gold Bowmore has been created out of the same handcrafted spirit as the first two with its own flavor. Each version is influenced by the different types of barrels in which they are matured. The Gold Bowmore is nicely matured in three Bourbon barrels and a single Oloroso barrel then carefully combine together to create a deep yellow spirit with a beautifully balanced yet incredibly complex finish.
