HIBIKI ARITA 35 YEARS
Suntory is the oldest whiskey company in Japan. Today, it is the largest and most identifiable distillery. This 35-year-old limited edition Hibiki is one of the best limited editions that Suntory has ever made for the Hibiki brand.
The Hibiki brand was introduced in 1989 by Suntory, initially Hibiki casks being marketed at ages 17 and 21. Hibiki 35-year-old has not been bottled, due to the shortage of Japanese whiskeys for many years. And then, Hibiki marked the return with a premium whiskey that pleased everyone who was waiting for it. Suntory made a surprise by revealing the extremely limited edition of the 35-year-old Hibiki named Arita, which debuted on November 29, 2016.
As well as the previous versions, but also to honor and mark the 400th anniversary of the appearance of porcelain in Japan, Suntory has used the expertise of traditional ceramics producers in Arita on the island of Kyushu.
For the occasion, the craftsmen have created a traditional design which incorporates the typical shape of Hibiki blend bottles that combines drawings of flowers, symbol of happiness and wealth, with butterflies which represent longevity. Bottled unchillfiltered at 47% above volume, Hibiki 35 year old is a real blending jewelcontaining single malts and grain whiskies aged in different types of barrels such as Sherry, Bourbon and Mizunara casks the rare oak from Japan, whose ages range from 35 to 54 year old for the oldest one! Only 150 bottles of each edition were produced and will be available just in Japan.
