- Mark the 400th anniversary of the appearance of porcelain in Japan.
As well as the previous versions, but also to honor and mark the 400th anniversary of the appearance of porcelain in Japan, Suntory has used the expertise of traditional ceramics producers in Arita on the island of Kyushu. For the occasion, the craftsmen have created a traditional design which incorporates the typical shape of Hibiki blend bottles.
The Kutani style of Japanese ceramic-ware dates back to the mid-17th Century, after a gold-mine worker in the area named Goto Sajiro was sent by his feudal lord to learn the art of porcelain manufacture in Arita. While the artefacts produced in Arita were more conservative, and discernably by Chinese in feel, the Kutani developed their own more colourful, visceral style.
- Production limited.
Bottles combines drawings of peonies flowers, symbol of happiness and wealth, with butterflies which represent longevity. Only 150 bottles of this edition were produced and will be available just in Japan, bottled unchillfiltered at 47% above volume, volume of 700ml.
