JACQUES HARDY 1914 GRAND CHAMPAGNE COGNAC
A bottle of 1914 Exceptionnellement Vieux Grande Champagne Cognac from the personal collection of Jacques Hardy. The liquid was distilled in 1914 and bottled in 1986, after 72 years of maturity in wooden barrels under the right conditions. Then, these high age versions were rebottled in 2002 and came in the 75cl hand-blown bottles sealed with wax and were presented in a wooden case.
There are 38 limited edition bottles, with the signature story told by Jacques Hardy as follows: “My father, Armand Hardy, who fought in the war of 1914-1918, remembered this year very well. And when I was a child, he was already comparing his life and a lot of other things with those before 1914 in his conversations.
Like me, you will appreciate its elegance and its finesse. Old local winegrowers confirmed this judgment: ‘those 1914s, there is nothing better’.
I hope that you will confirm my opinion after you taste it.”
Jacques Hardy has given a lot of hope to people who can be fortunate enough to taste this rare wine. But that’s not easy with their scarce production numbers. More than three decades have passed since Jacques Hardy 1914 was known to the public, and these World War I cognac bottles have always been a target for collectors to hunt for their collection.
