Hennessy XO Mathusalem 6L
The famous French cognac maker – Hennessy – one of the world’s oldest cognac makers, has launched the limited edition XO Math Jerusalem (price at €70,000) housed in a leather chest, designed by a famous shoes maker – Berluti. These two leading luxury brands, both belonging to luxury group LVMH, cooperate to create the leading cognac in luxury design. Limited to 150 bottles and made exclusively for the Asian & Russian markets.
Hennessy XO Mathusalem has a huge capacity: 6 liters, a hand-blown crystal bottle, according to the original design of the Marquis de Geoffre in 1947 for Hennessy. Each bottle carries its own edition number engraved on the body of the bottle. Designed by Olga Berluti (fourth generation of the Berluti family), each leather chest of Hennessy Mathusalem by Berluti bears the signature of the O.B above.
Carved with antique engravings & maps, as a symbol of the precious cognac contained within, the chest is handcrafted from leather with crocodile-shaped leather straps, specially designed for collection storage of watches or precious objects passed down through family generations as heirlooms.
“We want to create something beyond the shared meaning of cognac,” Hennessy President & CEO, Bernard Peillon said at the XO by Berluti launch in China. “The chest & cognac becomes something very personal. Once you enjoy it, you can keep a memory of it. Olga wants to create something special that will tell you about her childhood story in Venice, about her family. You can think of it as a work of art. We like the romance in the Berluti story”.
Each chest takes 70 hours to frame, inside each chest is a ‘catenella’ a wooden object found only in the gondolas of Venice, on which there is an inscription of the first letter of the word ‘gondolier’ (gondolas sailing person) and imprint of the marina. A certificate of ownership will be included with each leather chest. It can be said that with such meticulousness as well as limited quantity and astonishing price, the Hennessy XO Math Jerusalem is a cognac worthy of a collector’s collection.
