Bowmore STAC 55 years
The 55 years Bowmore STAC is the oldest product released by the Islay whisky brand. The paradox is that while production doesn’t sell enough, the 55 years Bowmore STAC has been trying to increase output to produce only one 1.5 litre version and keep the handmade details careful even on the bottle shell or label. The 55 years Bowmore STAC is presented in a sculpted hand blown vessel that looks like a stone facade reflecting the specially stacked stone blocks found around the coast of the island.
One of the biggest determinants of the value and quality of a Scotch wine is its age. The longer the wine lasts, the more time it takes to get a richer, deeper and more complex flavor. In addition to time commitments, distillers have to worry about the amount of liquid that will evaporate each year as it gets older. The 55 years Bowmore STA was distilled in 1962, and this rare single-dental circuit was brewed in the second American oak barrel in cellar number one of the distillery. Located below sea level, Bowmore STAC is described as capturing features from the environment around the island. According to the distillery, this whiskey has a yellow brown colour, a fresh, rich aroma of tropical fruit, and honey that is mixed with peach seeds, cranberries and refined pepper oil. On the mouth, it tastes as oregano, cocoa, and dark-roasted coffee beans, combined with caramel, biscuits, and mud smoke, ending the chain of sensations with long-lasting warmth.
