Glenfiddich The 1950s Collection
A one-off collection from the last four remaining casks of Glenfiddich distilled in 1955, 1957, 1958 and 1959. These expressions are housed in a bespoke maple and mahogany cabinet by Royal Warrant holder, NEJ Stevenson, and fitted with a thermometer and hygrometer from world renowned instrument makers, Fischer.
“I was aware of these 1950s casks from day one at The Glenfiddich Distillery, more than 20 years ago. There is a golden thread of people who have been their custodians; it is a privilege as the sixth Malt Master to bottle these momentous whiskies after more than six decades.”
“When I tasted these whiskies, an hour later the room was still filled with the aromas, conjuring up the sense of being in the stillroom, in the warehouse…that feeling of being transported to Glenfiddich was magical, and one I hope the owner of these whiskies will experience just as intensely.” – Brian Kinsman, Malt Master of Glenfiddich.
Glenfiddich is the definitive Speyside malt that works beautifully with a variety of woods and this quartet, these Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whiskies are reflections of the past and a glimpse of what is possible with the craftsmanship, quality and long-term thinking that comes from William Grant & Sons.
Each whisky is presented in a Baccarat crystal decanter with a 24-carat gold neck and cask year and age engraved in gold leaf. They are housed in a cabinet made by master craftsman Neil Stevenson, founder of N.E.J. Stevenson, Cabinet Makers By Appointment to HM The Queen. The casing is maple and mahogany with lamb nappa and goat suede for the softest natural lining, and a smoky-grey sycamore exterior, high-gloss polished for a flawless finish. It is designed to keep these precious whiskies in impeccable condition: high-precision Fischer thermometer and hygrometer to monitor the environmental conditions and a mechanism incorporated to turn the decanters twice a year to ensure the corks remain in optimum condition.
