The Balvenie 60 Year Old
Balvenie has announced the release of the Balvenie 60 Year Old, distilled in June 1962 and aged in European oak casks. The Balvenie 60 Year Old marks the oldest and rarest whisky ever released by the distillery. With an extremely limited release, only 71 bottles are expected to be available on the market in early 2023. This latest limited edition is to honor the illustrious career and deep commitment of Balvenie Malt Master, David C. Stewart MBE, who has dedicated his entire life for six decades, making him the longest-serving Malt Master in the history of the distillery.
Throughout his tenure at The Balvenie, David C. Stewart MBE has developed extensive knowledge and pioneering techniques that have greatly impacted the whisky production process used today, notably creating unique flavors for whisky that have made a global impression.
If perfection was the goal, they may have achieved it with the Balvenie 60. This limited edition not only impresses with its age and limited quantity but also makes a powerful statement in terms of exterior design. It is like a work of art, made from glass, gold, and brass. The Balvenie 60 Year Old is housed in a five-layered glass tube design, detailing the illustrious career of Stewart. The sixth layer is the elegant bottle, made from hand-blown crystal and containing a quote from Kelsey McKechnie, looking towards a bright future while honoring Stewart’s sixty years with the distillery.
“Patience is one of the important things – nothing happens in a hurry with Scotch,” Stewart said. “Patience is an important attribute.”
Balvenie 60 years is a masterpiece that is perfectly crafted, elegant, and encapsulates the memories, showcasing the significance of David’s career for The Balvenie and the whisky industry as a whole.
