AUCHENTOSHAN 1966 (44 YEAR OLD)
- Classic limited version
From Edrington-Beam Suntory UK: “Donated by Edrington Beam Suntory UK, the sales, marketing and distribution joint venture of internationally renowned spirits companies – Edrington and Beam Suntory. We are thrilled to support the Beatson Cancer Charity by offering this beautiful and rare bottle of Auchentoshan 1966. Great things were happening in 1966 that had nothing to do with football…especially in Glasgow. Expertly matured for 44 years in North American bourbon wood casks at Auchentoshan’s iconic distillery on the banks of the River Clyde, just 263 bottles of this exceptional liquid were produced. A whisky aficionado’s dream, sent to sleep in 1966 and lovingly drawn from the cask in 2011, this vintage, triple-distilled delight delivers all the hallmarks of the Glaswegian malt, famous for its smooth, yet gutsy, flavour profile.
Much like the city it grew up in, Auchentoshan – or ‘Auchie’ as it is affectionately known – prides itself on being aggressively welcoming. Showcased in a polished wood box with striking brush aluminium front and back, even the presentation of this immensely collectable whisky is anything but traditional.
Each winner of a bottle from Doddie’s auction will receive two complimentary Glencairn glasses, branded with the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation logo.
- Rich taste
It takes an extremely delicate person to fully feel the magnificence of this masterpiece. Because what Auchentoshan creates is not just a premium drink, it is also a wonderful mix of air, woven together from millions of molecules of flavors. It is the experience that comes from each layer, the flavors of eucalyptus emerge first, followed by honey and Christmas cake. The palate feels soft and sweet with honey and floral scent, followed by a distant herb scent. All are mixed and exploded on top and blended together like complex honey notes with the vitality of mint to create an amazingly long-standing Auchentoshan.
