Benromach 1969-2019 (50 years)
Benromach 50 years old has been matured solely in a refill ex-Sherry hogshead since being distilled in 1969 and was bottled at 44.6% abv, just 125 decanters.
Keith Cruickshank, Benromach distillery manager, said: “Benromach is known for its range of classic Speyside single malt Scotch whiskies, beautifully balanced with a light touch of smoke”.
Tasting Note
AROMA Savour sweet sherry aromas, the sweet luxury of prune syrup, stewed raisins, brown sugar and warm spices. Hints of butterscotch, ginger and candied orange peel appear before giving way to undertones of gentle smoke .
PALATE A peppery opening leads to ripe apricot and peach with subtly-sweet dried tobacco leaf, revealing a soft menthol edge and a lingering, fruity, mellow oak finish.
