BOWMORE 30 YEAR OLD SEA DRAGON
Bowmore’s bartender Rachel Barrie once said: “Very few fortunate distilleries have the right geographic location to create special and sought-after whiskeys in the world. Bowmore is one such fitting factory. With all our pride, we have refined the quintessence and put it to sleep in vault number 1, to nurture and wait for maturity in 20, 30 and possibly 50 years. This is all we have in our 50 year old collection. Each year, I will explore the hidden depths of the 1st Vault and reveal a famous liquid gem from the 1960s that is sure to ecstasy collectors around the world.” Bowmore 30 years, limited edition worth collecting.
- Special version to commemorate the Chinese year
Bowmore 30 years old depicts the Celtic legend of the sea dragon ‘Kranna Dubh’ who once inhabited the depths of Loch Indaal, the sea loch over looked by Bowmore Distillery. Stirred from his thousand year sleep by Fionn mac Cumhail – known as Fingal – the sea dragon Kranna Dubh swam to the shore at Bowmore to do battle. It ended with Kranna mortally wounded by Fingal’s magical sword, Mac a’ Luin, his dark blood seeping into the waters. To this day, the sea-dragon’s image appears on the Bowmore label. And it is said, when the sun sets, Loch Indaal turns red with his blood.
This fantastic 30 year old Islay single malt was distilled at Bowmore and bottled for the Sea Dragon series – an acknowledgment to the image of the mythical creature that adorns the stunning bottle and packaging.
Matured in Bourbon casks for three decades, this natural cask strength 48.9% ABV bottling was released in 2012 especially to commemorate the Chinese year of the Dragon.
- Rich taste
This 30-year-old whiskey tastes like a delicious cake with sherry and chocolate notes with a hint of tropical fruit. When you take a sip of the wine you will feel an explosion of ripe fruit in your palate alternating with a slight smoke. The end is a sweet taste combined with a bit of bitterness makes the taste more special than ever.
