- “The seadragon” – mythical monster
For three decades, this remarkable whiskey has been quietly lying in a dark vault for thirty years, maturing in old oak barrels and becoming rich in color, warm and refined flavors. Under the meticulous care of the specialists at the Bowmore winery carefully monitored its maturation and final bottling at the appropriate intensity. The taste offers this tropical fruit market again and is amazingly fresh and powerful. One to chew for minutes. There are more peaty flavours than in the nose and some floral notes too. All in all very complex and delicate with – again – not a single flaw or distracting off-note.
Nicknamed ‘the sea dragon’ due to the mythical beast adorning the rather pretty black ceramic bottle and box, this 30 year old Bowmore appeared in the mid 1990s and has achieved almost mythic status itself, being made up entirely of long-aged casks from the legendary 1960s vintages. A magnificent dram, bursting with rich tropical flavours – one of the all-time classics from this distillery.
