DALMORE 1926 50 YEAR OLD.
In the world of so many types of wine, whiskey is often regarded as the most refined and luxurious. Each whiskey has a different flavor. In Western countries, whiskey for men is like perfumes for women, ranging from variety, price to different flavors. Referring to whiskey, it is impossible to mention the characteristic flavor of Dalmore, an attractive malt, with a faint scent of smooth floral scent of the mountainous Central Highlands. It is not surprising that the distillery with the same name – Dalmore has launched Dalmore 1926 50 years, one of the rare luxury whiskeys.
Dalmore was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson, a partner in Jardine Matheson the trading organisation which acquired the East India Company. In the 19th and early 20th century, many distilleries were destroyed or badly damaged through fire breaking out. Dalmore suffered a more dramatic fate. In 1917 the British Royal Navy was using the Cromarty Firth as a site for the production of deep-sea mines and in 1920 much the distillery was almost completely destroyed by fire as a result of a mine detonation. The distillery returned to production in 1922.
It is rare to find a whisky from the 1920s of such age bottled at cask strength. Given that Dalmore has a reputation for maturing exceptionally well resulting in both balance and layers of complexity, we hope that there is much to discover in this whisky. Roughly distilled in 1926 and bottled in 1976. History in a bottle.
Only 50 bottles of Dalmore 50 years have been released globally, each bottle is bottled at a concentration of 52% ABV, volume 750ml. Very similar in character to the Dalmore 50 year old in the crystal decanter (they are from the same batch of stock), this is an earlier presentation from the 1970s and is packaged in a smart black ceramic decanter. Dalmore ages better than perhaps any other Highland distillery, and gives Macallan a run for its money in the quality stakes, but stocks are always very low.
