D’USSÉ GRANDE CHAMPAGNE COGNAC 1969
American musician Shawn Carter, known as Jay-Z, founded the D’Ussé brand in 2012, owned by Bacardi based in Bermuda. To celebrate his 50th birthday, Jay-Z has launched a special classic 1969 D’USSÉ Cognac. Just fifty bottles were issued to mark this milestone, the majority of which were given to his family and friends. Starting early May, the remaining bottles in the collection will retail in key cities across the country.
- Limited bottles were created to mark Shawn Carter’s50th birthday.
1969 D’USSÉ is an ultra-rare Grande Champagne Cognac from a single barrel, which has aged for decades at one of the oldest and most storied Cognac houses in France-the Château de Cognac, where other D’Ussé expressions XO and VSOP are made. However, the main difference is that the Jay-Z cognac is not a blend of different eaux-de-vie, but has been aged in the same oak barrel with a single eau-de-vie. This is a drink for strong drink lovers as most cognacs are blends of multiple barrels. Under the tutelage of the senior-most cellar master working today, Maître de Chai Michel Casavecchia, the distinctive liquid has at long last matured harmoniously to reach wholeness, and can never be replicated once emptied from the barrel. Carter first tasted the unique Cognac many years ago and found it so remarkable that he noted it must be carefully saved for a momentous occasion. fter D’USSÉ surprised him with the first ever bottle in celebration of his 50th birthday, Carter is finally presenting the collection to the world in partnership with the Shawn Carter Foundation and Sotheby’s for the first-and only-time in history. So Carter gave 50 bottles of D’USSÉ 1969 to his friends and family. Each bottle will be numbered from 1 to 50 separately. However, the most special thing about this 50-bottle collection is in bottle No. 1, which is also the only version signed by multi-talented musician, a legendary rapper, businessman and cognac connoisseur Cognac Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter, and #1 bottle, aside from the celebrity’s signature, it boasts 24 karat gold foil around the neck. Therefore the classic No. 1 D’USSÉ 1969 bottle, will make it an exceptionally rare product.
However, in order to please the fans, who love luxury drinks, the multi-talented musician has released the second version of D’USSÉ 1969 to supplement the public. The release is limited to just 235 bottles, individually numbered to showcase their place in the lot. Each 750mL bottle is numbered with an inscription on the topper and features a 12-cut crystal diamond decanter design encased in a stunning leather box.
- D’usse 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition Collection contains the quintessence of D’USSÉ Cognac: rich in heritage, complete in taste and made of the highest quality.
1969 D’USSÉ is the cognac that will stand the test of time. Sullivan Doh, Global Brand Ambassador at VIBE says: “D’usse 1969 explained how truly one of a kind it is, it was important to me to honor it by doing something that would celebrate its singularity. Once that barrel is emptied, there’s no way the liquid can be recreated.
The whole process behind the 1969 Anniversaire collection reminded me why I got involved in the spirits industry in the first place – to create something that will stand the test of time.”.
The Cognac in each bottle of the 1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition has rich aromas of fresh walnut, hazelnut, and candied apple, and a flavor profile that reveals an incomparable potency-woody at the start, with a long finish of stewed fruits, a touch of leather, and cigar box.
