GLENLIVET 1940 (70 YEARS)

Like Mortlach, Gordon & MacPhail continued to produce the second edition – Glenlivet 1940. It is bottled at 70 years old and became one of the oldest whiskeys ever produced.

Glenlivet 1940 was distilled on 3rd February 1940. In the No.339 barrel at the distillery in Speyside region , during the peak of World War II in 1940 and it bottled in 2010 at rate 45.9% ABV concentration.

Glenlivet 1940 is known as the most unique taste malt whiskey in the world. It has a rare amber color, the wonderful scent of an old cocktail cabinet made of wood, soft leather and a little candle wax. Behind it is the aroma the fruit, grilled apples, orange juice-scented, lighting smoke from the long distance. The first taste that you will feel is the sweetly taste. Next taste is the salty characteristics of salt and final taste is the smell of pale smoke.

The Glenlivet 1940 is not only the whisky but it also the delicately handcrafted artwork. It was botted in the glass bottle which has the drop of tear-shape with a silver cork that is confirmed by British standard. Each bottle is putted on the silver base and it is contained in a box made of wood which be handcrafted in Scotland.

Gordon & MacPhail had just produced only 100 bottles of Glenlivet 1940. Two of those were auctioned at the FNB Whiskey Live Festival 2011 in South Africa to raise funds for  The Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR)
