HIGHLAND QUEEN CENTENARY EDITION
- Limited edition version.
Highland Queen releases Centenary version with 2 premium whiskey bottles: Highland Queen Majesty Limited Edition 52 years Highland Single Malt and Highland Queen 1651 50 years Blended Scotch Whiskey. Together these whiskies represent over a century of tradition and passion which have gone into creating these sublime whiskies.
Highland Queen Majesty 52 year old Highland Single Malt is from our last three casks, which were distilled in december 1962 and bottled in January 2015. Aged in oak casks in our warehouses for 52 years, only 500 bottles could be produces from these three casks.
Highland Queen 1651 50 year old blended whisky has been created by our master distiller from our two remainings casks of 1964 Highland Single Malt, which have been married with different grain whiskies from both the Invergorden and now closed Port Dundas distilleries. After blending we have recessed the whisky into brand new sherry butts for an additional 6 months to allow the whiskies to marry together perfectly to achieve what is an amazingly smooth and complex Scotch Whisky. Only 500 bottles have been made.
- Rich taste.
Highland Queen 50 year old blend whiskey with strong notes of dry fruit, rich caramel followed by a wonderful combination of mild spices. That spirit is nourished and cherished in the mouth to arouse all hidden flavors. Earthy with dried herbs, more dried fruit and nutmeg roll on your tongue. Then there’s a lingering tidal wave of roasted coffee flavor. A soft touch of perfect spice on the palate for a perfect finish.
Different from Highland Queen 1651 50 years, Highland Queen 52 years has developed slowly and gradually become unique, keeping in itself its special aroma and taste. Now, more than five decades later, the factory’s bartender believes it’s time to bring this masterpiece out into the limelight. Just as the sky blows before dawn, delicate fragrances will reach you before your tongue feels the perfect taste. This is a burst of malt cream, macadamia, dried apricots and a hint of cigar box that awakens the senses to mingle with the freshness of the currant, nutmeg, vanilla and delicious scones. Strong flavors of barley and sweet sultana.
The image of Mary Queen of Scots on a prancing horse after landing at the port of Leith in 1561 became the constant design motif for Highland Queen blended Scotch. It has appeared on every label since its launch in the late 19th century, even after a change in ownership. The Highland Queen set is in absolute perfect condition. Including with the two supplied glasses, the accompanying protective cover and the 50 and 52 year old Highland Queen whiskies.
