Karuizawa 1965 “Stream Of Time” matured in an old sherry cask, one of the last casks of Karuizawa distillery for 52 years and brought the beauty of ups and downs along with its history as the old distillery was closed.
Karuizawa 1965 was bottled in 2017 and has really become a part of Japanese Whiskey history. Furthermore, with the limited quantity is only 150 bottles in a single sherry cask #8852, making this 52-year-old bottle become one of the most precious whiskey on the market. Each bottle is at 63.1% and volume is 700ml.
One thing is for sure, it is hard that another release with the same age will be resold due to the scarcity of the remaining casks and the increasing demand of the Whiskey market.

Karuizawa Distillery was established in 1955, located in the Asama vineyard of Karuizawa western town – where summer are hot, the winters are cold but still have characteristics like Scotland. Although it is a small factory, the quality requirements at the factory are extremely high and strict. Therefore, it applies the leading standards in whiskey production. The material used is Golden Promise – a famous barley.
Whiskey is distilled in small batches and produce the most perfect premium, water taken from the river that the mountain once erupted lava, in order to create a unique flavor. The production process is very sophisticated, so the quantity of this limited whisky is so rare.
Karuizawa 1965 52 years is a perfect combination of prunes and almonds, together with orange juice, pistachios blended with the scent of sandalwood and cakes to make a difference and creating sweet fragrance music.
- Unique design.
“chicken-wing wood”, describes a wood whose deep brown and gray patterns when cut tangentially resemble the patterns of bird feathers. Good quality Jichimu may have a higher value than rosewood. It was a common material for furniture during Ming Dynasty.
The design concept of “Karuizawa – Streams Of Time” is base on a classic whisky phrase — Uisce beatha (water of life). By craving the wave movement on the wooden box, together with the Seigaiha (Japanese symbol: blue wave of the sea) on the bottle, this bottle will remind you of the endless ocean.
Until now, the number of Karuizawa 1965 52 years is gradually decreasing, in addition to the expensive price, it is difficult to buy anywhere. We can only find them at big auctions such as London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Currently, its remainder is considered rare and valuable in the market.
