KARUIZAWA 1965 SHERRY CASK MONYOU
Sherry Cask Monyou is a very mature aged whiskey from the legendary distillery Karuizawa, which was closed in 1965. Karuizawa 1965 Sherry Cask Monyou is considered one of the most difficult-to-find whiskey versions in Japan.
The Karuizawa factory was established in 1955, started production in 1956 and was the smallest factory in Japan. Karuizawa’s crisis began in 2000 and closed in 2011; its land was sold in 2012. On March 15, 2016, all hopes of reviving the Karuizawa distillery were removed and completely leveled. The rest of the whiskey from the distillery was purchased and rebranded, then released as a series of luxury whiskeys.
Karuizawa 1965 was incubated in a Monyou Sherry cask in 1965 and was bottled in 2016 at 62.3%. Only limited to 309 bottles from cask #2372 worldwide.
Karuizawa Sherry Cask Monyou matured after 50 years with a delicate and rich flavor. We will get a balanced taste between sweet vanilla combined with dried fruit and honey. After tasting, the taste will become more spicy on the tongue but still retain its elegance and lightness.
Karuizawa 1965 Sherry Cask Monyou is displayed in a 700ml crystal bottle, exquisitely carved, stamps of bottles made from special paper and ink which is a typical handicraft product in Japan.
Today, even though the Karuizawa distillery is closed, rare whiskey bottles from this distillery are still being searched all over the world.
