MACALLAN 1967
Beginning in 1824 until now, each single malt by The Macallan demonstrates an absolute commitment to extracting the very best from wood and spirits. Considered the third famous single Malt whiskey in the world, the consumption of Macallan is always impressive. As one of the immortal symbols of the whiskey line. The “obsession” of quality has become a characteristic feature of the Macallan products, deepening the maker’s subconscious. This quality concern has been around since its founder, Alenxander Reid, determined to establish the first distillery.
Peter Blake has worked with Sarah Burgess, The Macallan’s leading whiskey maker and has shared his inspiration in his areas of expertise. For him, inspiration can be found almost anywhere, through the lenses you can see and offer what you are after. To round out the collection, a specially created whisky inspired by The Macallan and Blake’s “shared appreciation of beauty, nature and legacy”
Presented in early 2021, Down to Work is the result of the Speyside giant once again collaborating with acclaimed British artist, Sir Peter Blake. Famously the designer of The Beatles iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band record sleeve, he is perhaps best known in the whisky world for labelling 12 bottles of the legendary Macallan 1926: currently the most expensive single malt in history. This is the third time he and The Macallan have worked together.
Wine lovers from The Macallan might have already known the Anecdotes of Ages Collection, a collection of 13 vintage bottles of 1967, each depicting key themes in the distillery’s history with 13 labels. Individual bottles are hand-painted by Mr. Peter Blake. Down to Work is an extension of the Anecdotes of Ages collection, when the distillery used the label of the 13th bottle (the bottle was kept at the factory) to make 322 bottles for collectors wishing to collect full collection. The previous 12 bottles of Anecdotes of Ages, will be available through auction and retail. The new collection represents the decision to persevere with using sherry-seasoned oak casks in the face of industry and market pressure to compromise.
