MACALLAN 40 YEAR OLD – THE RED COLLECTION
Throughout the brand’s history, The Red Collection represents Macallan’s deep respect for tradition and craftsmanship. Distilled decades ago, housed in the cellar of The Macallan, each version of the collection has been matured in the distillery’s oak barrels under supervision over generations. Over time, they evolved into extremely elegant old whiskeys. The 40-year-old Macallan is one of the collectibles in the priceless The Red Collection.

The distinctive red colour weaves its way through our history, starting with the name of our founder Alexander Reid—literally “The Red”, to The Macallan’s ‘Choice Old’ range released over a century ago in 1903, through to Allan Shiach marking vintage bottles of The Macallan with a red ribbon in the 1980s.
The Macallan presents a peerless single malt whisky that has slowly matured over four extraordinary decades under the watchful eye of generations of whisky makers, until it has reached this perfect moment of maturation. During these decades of slumber, the carefully selected wood shaped the unique character of the whisky delivering the natural colour, distinctive aromas and full flavours of this aged single malt.
Limited edition of just 400 bottles of Macallan 40 years released worldwide. Each bottle is bottled at a concentration of 48.1% ABV, with a volume of 700ml.

Each bottle in The Red Collection is encased in a hand-crafted oak presentation box created from the same sustainable European oak used to craft The Macallan’s oak casks. These boxes are beautifully upholstered with sustainably sourced soft red leather from Scottish supplier Bridge of Weir Leather, which creates upholstery for leading luxury car brands across the globe.
Macallan 40 years old contains the aroma of delicate spices and is reminiscent of orange and grapefruit combining with dark chocolate. In the palate the flavor comes back more prominent after long storage and comes with great flavors of ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. The highlight that ends the flavor chain is that the 40-year Macallan stays in the mouth for a long time, leaving a rich fruity note.
