“We have delved into the Pulteney warehouses in Wick to unearth two absolute whisky treasures, which are one-of-a-kind bottlings of our very best spirit. Alongside our beautiful bespoke display case, this unique Old Pulteney set truly is a ‘one of one’, which we are very proud to contribute to such a prestigious auction and worthy cause.” – Malcolm Waring, Distillery Manager.
Old Pulteney 30 Years Old fully matured in American oak ex-bourbon and refill Spanish Oak casks which have been vatted together to create the complex whisky. On the palate flavours of intense tropical fruit lead to a long sweet, full bodied finish. While the accompanying one-of-a-kind Old Pulteney 32 Years Old aged in handpicked American oak bourbon barrels, on the palate chocolate and honeycomb flavours are lent an enticing edge by hints of citrus and pear drops, leading to a fulfilling long finish.
Both whiskies are crafted and matured at Pulteney Distillery in Wick on Scotland’s remote, northerly Caithness coast. The distillery’s warehouses are exposed to the invigorating sea air blowing in off the North Sea, influencing the whisky with a subtle, salty note.
Pulteney Distillery in Wick – founded in 1826 by James Henderson at the height of Wick’s herring boom when the town was one of the most important fishing ports in Europe. The distillery lies in the heart of what was once known as ‘Pulteney town’– an area created to house fishermen in this historic coastal town. The herring shoals may be long gone, but the spirit of this seafaring past lives on in Old Pulteney single malt, which has long been known around the world as the Maritime Malt.
