CHIVAS ROYAL SALUTE 52 YEAR OLD
Whisky lovers know Royal Salute is a fan of keeping whiskies in the barrel, each spirit in the range is aged 21 years or longer, but its latest blend is really old, even for them. After more than five decades, crafted by bartender Sandy Hyslop, the 52-year Chivas Royal Salute edition is created by combining the oldest and most valuable whiskeys. This version is considered the culmination of an authentic journey and the mastery of the masters.
- The pinnacle of authentic crafting
Royal Salute master blender Sandy Hyslop said: “At Royal Salute we have unparalleled expertise in blending such extremely rare high-aged whiskies. Time is precious and fundamental in the creation of blends such as these and we are thrilled to be marking the launch of our Time Series collection with this stunning liquid.
“The longer the whisky matures, the more intricate it becomes, with 52 years of aging, the delicate balance of some of the rarest of our whiskies has created an unrivaled depth of flavor and unbelievably complex characteristic, making for a remarkable expression that perfectly shows that time is a key element of our creations.”- said Hyslop.
Every whisky in this blend, the youngest of which dates back to 1967, is influenced and enhanced by the delicate combination of flavours that only maturation in an exceptional quality cask can deliver, and the incredible result speaks for itself. Royal Salute 52 Year Old Single Cask Finish is an unparalleled blend for collectors and enthusiasts alike to seek out on their travels. This coveted drop was laid down for more than half a century and is limited to just 106 bottles, just 35 bottles of the new whisky will be available in global travel retail, while a further 71 bottles will be made available in domestic markets.
- Complex taste
While Royal Salute is well-known for its blends, it took a different direction for the 52 Year Old Single Cask Finish. Out of the 52 years of maturation that the whisky went through, the last 14 was spent in a single cask, not unlike the time period that many Scotch single malts spend in a cask. Thanks to the incredibly lengthy maturation process, the whisky has an intensely fruity aroma—think ripe plum and red apples. On the palate, it tastes of syrupy pears, zesty ginger, sweet orange marmalade, plus hints of cloves and licorice, all of which is balanced by a deliciously creamy finish.
Royal Salute 52 Year Old Single Cask Finish is presented in a hand-blown Dartington crystal decanter. Each bottle has been individually engraved with a number and will be presented in a Time Series box that has been finished with five different layers of wood, each representing a different decade in the life of the blend.
