SPRINGBANK 50 YEAR OLD ORIGINAL 1919
SPRINGBANK 50 YEAR OLD ORIGINAL BOTTLING 1919?
There are several factors that make the Springbank distillery unique. It is the oldest distillery in Scotland owned by the same family, 100% of the production process is carried out on one site, and it remains the largest private employer in Campbeltown employing over 60 people.
One of the rarest single malts ever released, this famous Springbank was once in the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s most expensive whisky. Just 24 bottles of this liquid treasure from the 1919 vintage were bottled in 1970 and complete with a beautifully framed signed certificate of authenticity from the Distillery.
Distilled in Campbeltown shortly after the Great War, when there were still around 18 other working distilleries in the town, this ultra-rare bottle is a snapshot of a bygone era, with only a handful of bottles surviving.
Springbank 50 year old 1919 sold for £ 266,200 (US$341,426) at auction on 24th October, 2019 in London by Sotheby’s.
