SUNTORY THE ROLLING STONES 50TH ANNIVERSARY WHISKY
Acording to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the world famous Rock band – The Rolling Stones. Suntory Liquors which is the Japan’s largest beverage company was produced version whisky “Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Whiskey” on October 30. 2012 and be limited only 150 bottles. This is one of “Stones Bar” series was producted on June 19th. Suntory has received a lot of praise for the new Stones Bar product such as: beer, cocktails, and highballs iconic “lips and tongue” logo of The Rolling Stones.
Following that success, Suntory launched a special whisky product to celebrate the Rolling Stones’ 50th Anniversary. This whisky is a blend of six well-selected malts and blewed in Japanese oak cask (mizunara). Each malt corresponds to a milestone in the band’s history:
1962: The Rolling Stones formed (Yamazaki malt)
1971: “Lips and tongue” logo completed (Yamazaki malt)
1972: Released album “Exile on Main Street”, including the song “Rocks Off” (used in Suntory TV ads) (Yamazaki malt)
1981: Signature song “Start Me Up” released (Yamazaki malt)
1990: First performance in Japan’s Tokyo Dome (Hakushu malt, Chita Prefecture)
This rare whiskey weighty, complex aroma calls to mind both dried and ripened fruits, and even cacao and espresso, and its rich heaviness and slight bitterness expand in the mouth with a velvety smoothness. The aftertaste is a pleasant and expansive woodiness akin to the fragrance of the finest aloeswood, and a soft smokiness.
Rolling Stone Whiskey is exquisitely designed, featuring the band’s iconic “lips and lollipop”. The bottle features the logo cut in relief on the front of the bottle, and a diamond-shaped decorative stopper. The bottle comes in a stylish box modeled after a black sofa.
This is a special limited edition whiskey that is so hard to find. Not only the wine collectors that the Rolling Stones fans are eager to own this bottle.
