Each Royal Salute 50 Year Bottle is matured in Oak casks for a minimum of 50 years resulting in a deep and sumptuous taste. Its a blend of robust and powerful whiskies.
Only 255 bottles were made of this whiskey and each bottle carries its unique number out of the 255 bottles. The emblem on the bottle is made of a unique plaque made of silver and 24 carat gold. The first bottle of royal salute 50 year coronation cask was presented to sir edmund hillary on the 50th anniversary of his reaching the summit of mount.
- Unique taste
The emblem on the bottle is made of a unique plaque made of silver and 24 carat gold. Extremely fine strands of bourbon with suet pudding and diced apples making way for more intense raisins as the whisky warms and oxidises; just a shading of something peaty plus some earthy farmyardy-zooey aromas. But it’s all rather fantastic and supremely balanced. Surprisingly peppery attack from the off with some very early smoke. But it’s the mouthfeel that shines – no, glows! – enveloping and swamping every crevice with spiced fruit demonstrating exemplary composure. Only short to medium length but sweet and genuinely barley rich with perhaps a hint of silky grain. Crisp and almost too clean to be true. A blended whisky showing this degree of balance and elan is truly priceless.
Royal Salute 50 years is a unique version that not only tastes great but also celebrates its birthday. That is one reason why it is becoming more and more rare. There are many collectors looking for it.
